Tornado touches down in suburban Chicago, damaging several homes

Near the identified tornado, a violent storm left serious property damage to Naperville, Burridge and Darien.

Officials in nearby Woodridge village said the tornado landed late Sunday, damaging at least 75 buildings and damage assessments are underway.

Fox 32 Chicago reported that there was also significant damage in South Haven, Indiana. She was sitting on a driveway lawn chair before sunrise on Monday.

"I just heard a loud crash and I'm wondering, 'Oh, what are your brothers doing?' When I go to see the sky, I can hear them screaming from the room", he said.

The tornado landed at Woodridge around 11:30 pm on Sunday night between 83rd and 75th Avenues east of Route 53.

The NWS issued a series of tornado watches and warnings as the tornado ripped through the suburbs of Chicago on Sunday evening. The injuries reportedly weren't life-threatening.
