Former US president Donald Trump has hinted he could run for presidency in 2024 in his first public speech since his turbulent four years in office.

'We took care of a lot of people - including, I guess, on December 21, we took care of Joe Biden, because he got his shot, he got his vaccine, ' Trump said in his remarks. Directly addressing women in the audience, he added: "Hate to say that ladies, but you got a lot of new records that are being shattered".

CNN previously reported that a White House official had said in mid-December that Trump wouldn't be administered a coronavirus vaccine until it was recommended by the White House medical team.

The conference, held this year in Orlando instead of the Washington suburbs because of Covid-19 restrictions, has been a tribute to Trump and Trumpism, complete with a golden statue in his likeness. Look at Russia. Look at India.

The United States could help pay for transportation, healthcare, legal services, and career and educational programs for migrant families separated under former President Donald Trump's "zero tolerance" border strategy, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said on Monday.

China is the world's biggest carbon emitter followed by the US, India and the EU. Needless to say, Trump provided no evidence to back up his claims.

With millions of Americans now being vaccinated, Trump said, "Never let them forget this was our plan".

Others, like House minority leader Kevin McCarthy, have taken great pains to walk back initial criticism of Trump's role on January 6, when he urged his supporters to march on the Capitol.

"We will save and strengthen America, and we will fight the onslaught of radicalism, socialism, and indeed, it all leads to communism", Trump said.

Trump's speech saw him trot out the familiar favourites - the election was "rigged" (it wasn't), he actually beat Joe Biden (he didn't), and he may well return to run again in 2024 (I guess only time will tell).

Trump also repeated his claims that he won the 2020 presidential polls. "I wonder, who that will be", he said amidst cheers from his supporters at the annual session of the committee. Ex-presidents typically step out of the spotlight for at least a while; Barack Obama was famously seen kitesurfing on vacation after he departed, while George W. Bush said he believed Obama "deserves my silence" and took up painting.

Some Trump supporters have pushed conspiracy theories that the government would use the vaccine to conduct surveillance of the population.

Around 42 minutes into his speech, Donald Trump turned his attention to trans athletes, lambasting Joe Biden for advancing protections for LGBT+ people.

"And the Supreme Court and other courts didn't want to do anything about it". But they were much more ambiguous about whether he should run again, with 68 percent saying he should.

"Americans Keeping Country First is the only Super PAC dedicated exclusively to defending the members of Congress who took votes of conscience to impeach or convict President Trump after rioters stormed the Capitol complex on 6 January 2021", reads a statement posted on its website.
