Biden said one of the most significant obstacles he faced in taking on the pandemic response from the previous administration was a lack of vaccinators to administer the shots.

"By the end of third grade, if a child is not at third-grade reading level, they literally drop off", Harris said. "My guess is there's probably going to push to open all summer, like it's a different semester".

He said he believed "it will be close to that at the end of the first 100 days" to get half the country's younger kids back in school. "The goal would be 5 days a week". "Don't be scared. You're going to be fine, and we're going to make sure mommy's fine, too", Biden said during the CNN town hall on Tuesday.

He added, "By the way, all of them have, with one exception, picked up the phone and called me as well".

(CNN)President Joe Biden is getting outside reinforcements to help promote and build support for his policy agenda in the form of a new nonprofit advocacy group, a senior administration official and a person familiar with the matter told CNN.

Biden said that kids in grades K-8 should go back to school, but that it's "harder" to get high schools open without a rehaul of school ventilation systems. "Not everybody in the Hispanic and African American community - particularly in rural areas that are distant, and/or inner city districts, know how to get online to determine how to get in line for a COVID vaccine at Walgreens or at the particular store".

He also took a question from a teacher, who stated his belief that schools all need new ventilation systems before they can be opened.

"That should be an indication - or should be noted by members of Congress", she said. Many experts have tried to predict when life will go back to how it was pre-COVID, while others have warned that we can never truly return to the way we used to live.

"So if that works that way, as my mother would say with the grace of God, and the goodwill of the neighbours, that by next Christmas, I think, we'll be in a very different circumstance, God willing, than we are today", he said. He urged people to continue wearing masks, socially distance, and wash their hands with hot water.
