Games aren't the only thing on Krafton's mind as it pursues expansion of PUBG beyond its battle royale foundation in the coming years.

Kim is now the chief executive of Krafton Inc., the company that launched "PUBG" in December 2017.

The excerpt comes from Bloomberg's outline of Krafton CEO Kim Chang-han's intial public offering (IPO) plans this year.

Unfortunately, PUBG developers fumbled its initial stages by releasing the trigger on a buggy game leading to an extended stint in early access. Finally, PUBG moves towards reclaiming its top spot at the peak of the Battle Royale mountain. It appears that a brand new PUBG-related game will be launching on both PC and consoles next year. Although, we have yet to see if this upcoming title will be able to obtain the same kind of success as the original PUBG.

It seems that the former victor of a personal computer contest, organised by South Korea's science ministry in 1985 and the co-founder of Ginno Games in 2009, Kim Chang-han is determined to shrug off the "one-hit wonder" tag as Krafton prepares to go public.

PUBG Mobile was recently crowned the highest grossing mobile game in the world for 2020, generating over $US1.1billion in revenue.

Fans were happy to see the mind behind Dead Space back in action with The Callisto Protocol, but many may have missed that it's set in the same universe and lore as PUBG.

Currently, APEX Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Fortnite dominate the Battle Royale genre.

As we follow The Callisto Project, PUBG, and further Krafton news, be sure to stay tuned to Shacknews for further details and updates.

The game premiered a year ago at The Game Awards 2020 and looks to be somewhat similar to Dead Space. The game is being helmed by Glen Schofield, who previously worked on Dead Space.

Check out the announcement trailer for the game just below. We don't know how this game will share a connection to the PUBG universe, but only time will tell.

Whilst you are waiting for news of PUBG 2.0, you should think about getting your hands on a new new-gen console in preparation.
