Mega Millions results for 01/08/21; did anyone win the $520M jackpot?

This is only the fourth time the Mega Millions pot has reached $600 million, according to NBC News.

With no jackpot victor, the top prize for this coming Tuesday's drawing will be roughly $600 million, only the fourth time that MegaMillions has gone that high (the cash option is $442.4 million). The last jackpot victor was in September 2020 and the prize was $120 million.

The jackpot increased after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn on Friday. If no one wins, the jackpot keeps on climbing for the next drawing.

A $1 million Mega Millions ticket was sold in New Jersey for Friday night's drawing. Players have a 1 in 12,607,306 shot to win the second prize of at least $1 million by matching five numbers. Each victor received $1 million.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 each and must be bought by 10:45 p.m. on the evening of the drawing.

The overall chances of winning some type of prize in the Mega Millions is 1 in 24. Heading into this latest draw, the jackpot stood at United States dollars 520 million. The odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 302 million.
