According to a new report from TMZ, Diamond's team has confirmed that he was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell carcinoma, which is also known as advanced lung cancer, but in his case, it's believed that the cancer started somewhere else in Diamond's body and then metastasized in his lungs.

"It's not good, it's not good at all", an insider described to Us Weekly in an update on Diamond's health. "He's going through a lot of pain, but he still keeps his spirits up".

Diamond - who played Screech on the original Saved By the Bell - was hospitalized in Florida in early January to undergo tests after he noticed "a huge lump on his throat", his rep said at the time. Right now, he's just suffering.

His team adds that, in addition to chemotherapy, the 44-year-old actor will start physical therapy. "We are forwarding the letters/cards to him to read in the hospital". "He has a handful of people who are in his close circle - his girlfriend being one of them".

The "Saved by the Bell" star is still in hospital and doing everything he can to deal with his diagnosis ... whose team said TMZ is stage IV small cell carcinoma.

A representative for the star added that Dustin, famed for playing Screech Powers in Saved By The Bell, is determined to remain optimistic about the situation and has been keeping busy playing video games and his bass guitar. "Pray for him and his family and for a speedy recovery".

Elizabeth Berkley, Lark Voorhies, and Tiffani Thiessen also took to social media to send their love and support to their former colleague.

Peacock is home to a reboot of the series, which Diamond has not appeared in. He was also part of the movie Saved By The Bell: Hawaiian Style in 1992 and the sequel Saved By The Bell: The College Years the following year.
