After contacting 911, Ricci said she was granted an emergency protective order against her husband, who she claims "became emotionally unhinged" this month after learning the actress had been spending time with a male friend. What has now come to light is that, according to her own testimony, she has suffered a history of domestic violence.

Christina Ricci has been granted a domestic violence restraining order against now-estranged husband James Heerdegen.

In her legal claim, she indicated that during one of the quarrels, her husband spat on her. Ms Ricci, 40, told the jury they were the result of attacks by her husband James Heerdegen and that she had "found herself trapped in a house with a violent abuser" during lockdown. It led her to hide "all the knives in the cabin where we were staying".

The restraining order, obtained by Entertainment Tonight requires Heerdegen to stay 100 yards away from Ricci at all times. This incident convinced her that she needed to file for divorce, which she did.

Ricci also requested the court prohibit Heerdegen from releasing private recordings of her, both audio and video, and instead return them to the actress.

Christina Ricci and James Heerdegen attend the 27th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party sponsored by IMDb and Neuro Drinks celebrating EJAF and the 91st Academy Awards in 2019.

"He grabbed my wrists and hands, dragged me, and slammed my body into the fire pit we have in the yard", Christina wrote in her filing.

Heerdegen's lawyer, Larry Bakman, said his client 'unequivocally denies all allegations of abuse made by Ms Ricci'. Heerdegen filed for his order against the actress on Friday, claiming alcohol and substance abuse is fuelling her allegedly abusive conduct.

A judge granted Ricci a restraining order against her Heerdegen this week. In the file, Christina says she was subjected to "severe physical and emotional abuse" from James, "many of these acts of violence" taking place in front of their son. That night, she slept with her son in a different room and locked the door.

The court documents, obtained by celebrity website TMZ, contain allegations that Heerdegen repeatedly abused Ricci in front of their 6-year-old son and also include photos of Ricci's bruises as evidence. She filed for divorce in early July.

It's generally known that Christina Ricci has been in the middle of divorce proceedings.

TMZ also published on Wednesday photos that Christina Ricci sent to justice, pictures which attest to injuries allegedly inflicted by her husband. The 2 met on the set of "Pan Am" in 2011 however didn't begin relationship till the next yr.
