But is Apple planning on stealing some of Sammy's thunder?

CBS This Morning today shared a short clip of an upcoming interview with Apple CEO Tim Cook in which addressing last week's events at the U.S. Capitol, with Cook saying "it's key that people be held accountable for it". The taped interview will be shown in its entirety on Wednesday during which Cook will make an important announcement relating to Apple.

Notably, however, King emphasized that the interview was not originally meant to discuss last week's events - it was actually scheduled long before that, specifically because Apple had a big announcement that it wanted to share, and it wanted to do so specifically on CBS This Morning.

"I think no one is above the law", Cook said in an interview Tuesday on "CBS This Morning". "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King spoke with Cook about the assault on the Capitol and asked him what needs to happen next.

In a tweet last week, Cook called the insurrection "a sad and shameful chapter in our nation's history", and Apple has since banned Parler, the social media app that was used to coordinate the attacks in Washington, DC. What we're going to tell you about tomorrow is very exciting. "And then we need to move forward", Cook said.

Apple removed pro-Trump social media platform Parler from the App Store in the wake of the Capitol Hill attack because of its "failure to moderate content that may have incited violence".

Interestingly, the interview itself was held with the CBS team setting up at the local Apple Store, rather than within their studio, while Cook remained at Apple Park in Cupertino. He added that, "I think no one is above the law".
