Trump didn’t concede, but he will move Biden’s transition forward

Trump has responded in a tweet to the news that the transition to a President-elect Biden administration must begin.

The lawsuit said Republican observers were denied access to the counting of mail-in ballots, a claim election officials dispute, and alleged inconsistent treatment of mail-in ballots by county officials.

This came after Democrats called on Murphy to testify before the House on not ascertaining Joe Biden's victory.

Biden won 306 state-by-state electoral votes, well over the 270 needed for victory, to Trump's 232.

The president-elect, however, had already started his part of the transition.

When the General Services Administration informed President-elect Joe Biden on Monday that the Trump administration is ready to begin the formal transition process, it released a slew of resources for his team to access in the coming weeks, including almost $6.3 million.

The parade of daily statements from Republicans who are gently urging Trump to concede and move on comes as Murphy, whom he appointed, had stalled on certifying Biden as the victor of the presidential election, stalling the process of officially launching the transition. It also paves the way for Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to receive regular national security briefings that Trump also gets.

He added, "Our case STRONGLY continues, we will keep up the good. fight, and I believe we will prevail!"

Trump praised the GSA administrator on Twitter. It certainly wasn't a concession speech, but it was probably the closest thing yet.

"I want to thank Emily Murphy at GSA for her steadfast dedication and loyalty to our Country", he tweeted. "I was never directly or indirectly pressured by any Executive Branch official-including those who work at the White House or GSA-with regard to the substance or timing of my decision", Murphy wrote in a letter to Biden. "The decision was exclusively mine", she wrote.

"Because of recent developments involving legal challenges and certifications of election results, I have determined that you may access the post-election resources and services described in Section 3 of the Act upon request", Murphy said in a letter to Biden, citing the Presidential Transition Act of 1963. In fact, today we saw, of course, MI certify its vote, making Joe Biden the official victor, the president-elect, Biden, the official victor.

Top Republicans in Michigan's legislature pledged to honor the outcome in their state, likely dashing Trump's hopes that the state legislature would name Trump supporters to serve as "electors" and support him rather than Biden.

Does President-Elect Have Any Responsibilities During the Transition?

He has played several games of golf and avoided taking questions from reporters since the day of the election.

The term "transition" pertains to the time between a presidential candidate prevailing in the election and the inauguration ceremony, a process that is implemented by the president-elect's nonprofit transition team which has its own staff and budget. He named Jake Sullivan as his national security adviser and Linda Thomas-Greenfield as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

The Wall Street Journal reported Biden will nominate former Federal Reserve Secretary Janet Yellen to led the Treasury Department.
