Japanese game developer Square Enix is working on a new Lara Croft game, this time for the mobile platform.

Well, it could be down to those golden disks we see in the teaser, but why they're so important isn't now known. Tomb Raider Reloaded features a stylized cartoony version of the classic Lara Croft from the original Tomb Raider games. It's now in development under Emerald City Games in cooperation with the Square Enix London mobile team, and it's slated to arrive sometime in 2021. Who can say, but we'll certainly hear more about it in the next few months, I'm sure.

The iconic action-adventure games have entertained us for nearly 25 years now and there's another in the pipeline.

Here's the first Tomb Raider Reloaded trailer.

Square Enix describes Reloaded as a "free to play action arcade game" which can cover a whole lot of ground.

We don't know all that much about this new game just yet. In any case, we're definitely excited to see what Emerald City Games has planned for the mobile title. The game will be published by Square Enix London Mobile.

Lara Croft returns to mobile devices in 2021 with Tomb Raider Reloaded, bringing seemingly action-packed, monster-infested shootouts.

That being said, it's great that the Tomb Raider franchise has awoken from its dormancy. The only indication it gives is that it is going to be populated with characters in 3D cartoon skins, Lara Croft included. It will be a free-to-play game as well, so you won't have to fork out even a penny to enjoy it!

It may not be the announcement fans wanted, but it seems like a great game to pass the time with.
