The Minnesota Timberwolves are acquiring Ricky Rubio from the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Nos.

Point guard Ricky Rubio is returning to the place where it all began. The person confirmed the deals to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the trades had not yet been announced.

The Timberwolves did a great job of reshaping the roster on draft night. He says the plan is for Edwards to be the 3rd member of this team's big three which also includes Karl-Anthony Towns and DeAngelo Russell. He appeared in 353 contests and averaged 10.3 points, 8.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game.

Rubio, who was selected by Minnesota with the fifth pick in the 2009 draft, played six seasons with the Timberwolves from 2011-17. The Wolves had the worst record in the league the previous season, so they earned that spot, but this year was stunningly the first time they'd ever benefited from the ping-pong balls and moved up from their default slot.Rosas wasted no time putting his stamp on the team during his first year in Minnesota, making three significant in-season trades. He spent last season with the Phoenix Suns and was involved in the Chris Paul trade earlier this week.

Rubio is under contract for the next two seasons before he'll become an unrestricted free agent in 2022.

Timberwolves coach Ryan Saunders is said to be a huge fan of Rubio's.

Timberwolves All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns has to be happy to have Rubio back in the mix since Rubio is a pass-first guard, which is rare in today's National Basketball Association.

The Timberwolves will now send James Johnson, who's exercising his $16-million player option for the 2020-21 season, to the Thunder as part of the previously reported swap, The Athletic's Shams Charania reports.
