Snow on the way

Snow is expected to begin Sunday afternoon and 5 to 10 cm of snow is possible before the snow tapers off Monday morning.

Forecasts call for anywhere from seven to 15 centimetres of snow in more western regions, with higher accumulations expected further east.

Travel is expected to be impacted due to moderate to heavy snow.

In an interview with CTVNewsOttawa.ca, Environment Canada meteorologist Yoseph Mengesha said driving, walking and cycling conditions will be poor Sunday evening and on Monday.


"We're looking at the heaviest snow part to be this evening. It'll be clearing ice and making the road safe".

The significant snowfall is now expected to fall throughout the day and late into the night.

The high for Sunday will be 2 C, with a wind chill of -3 in the morning. "We will continue to monitor the situation and update Special Weather Statements as newer data becomes available".


The prediction for Monday is periods of snow ending in the morning then mainly cloudy. Amount 2 cm. High 2 C.
