Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G to feature Snapdragon 750G, 8GB RAM

In terms of smartphone shipments, Xiaomi led the market with a share of 26.1% (13.1 Mn), Samsung replaced Vivo with 10.2 Mn units and took a market share of 20.4%. The new range of affordable phones could compete against the new Redmi Note 9 models that are arriving in China next week.

There is no 5G phones under the Note 9 series in the global market so Redmi may launch these phones with the same name as in China. The Chinese brand has also shared a poster on Weibo. Pricing & other details of the Redmi Note 9 5G series will be revealed during its launch event. All the devices will have 5G support and while the design of the smartphones has also been revealed and it is quite different from the series that was launched in India this year. The device will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner which basically confirms that the phone has an LCD panel.

Both the devices bear a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) LCD screen with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The phone will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC coupled with up to 8GB RAM, and up to 256GB storage. Note 9 is speculated to feature a camera set up that will include three sensors including a 48-megapixel primary sensor.

According to the information in Geekbench, the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G coded M2007J17C will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 750G processor. The Note 9 5G smartphone is likely to be fuelled by a 5,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging facility. The phone will have up to 12GB RAM, and up to 256GB storage.
