SNY NBA insider Ian Begley reported earlier Sunday that the Knicks were a potential landing spot for McGee, with the Lakers' pursuit of Gasol in mind.

The move comes at the end of a wild week for the Lakers that has seen Danny Green, Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley and now, McGee, leave to be replaced by Denis Schroder, Wesley Matthews, Montrezl Harrell and Gasol.

McGee, 32, signed a two-year deal for $8.2 million with the Lakers last July.

It then looked like the Lakers shifted their focus to the center market with Dwight Howard taking to social media to announce that he had re-signed with the team.

It will be interesting to see how much the Lakers are willing to pay Marc Gasol.

Gasol struggled to stay on the court in the playoffs, however, which could be a sign that Father Time is catching up to the 12-year veteran. With McGee no longer in the mix, Gasol could potentially slot in as the Lakers' starting center. He won a title with the Raptors after 11 seasons in Memphis and averaged 7.5 points and 6.3 rebounds last season in Toronto.

Another big headline: Marc Gasol comes to the Lakers after brother Pau Gasol went to the same franchise over a decade earlier and helped L.A. win Kobe Bryant's last two National Basketball Association titles in 2009 and 2010.
