The Sequence' trailer tugs hearts earlier than Netflix premiere

This morning brings our first look at Selena: The Series, bringing an unexpected flood of emotions and some on point looks. The Quintanilla family will be portrayed by Ricardo Chavira, as Selena's father, Abraham; Seidy Lopez, as her the singer's mother, Marcella; Gabriel Chavarria, who stars as her brother, A.B.; and Noemi Gonzalez as her sister, Suzette, who served as series executive producer. Netflix beforehand revealed a black-and-white teaser trailer, which depicts Selena performing her basic "Como La Flor" on stage, with a voiceover from her father, who says, "Do you belief your father?" If you keep exercising, it will pay off. "Just watch. And when I see you on that stage, I still the 6-year-old girl singing in our backyard".

Selena released five solo albums from 1989 to her posthumous 1995 release Dreaming of You. She was the top-selling Latin artist of the 1990s, in accordance with Billboard journal, which inducted her into its Latin Music Corridor of Fame in 1995. In her 1997 breakout role, Jennifer Lopez portrayed the singer in the biographical drama film "Selena".

The show tells the coming-of-age story of beloved singer Selena Quintanilla - played by Christian Serratos ("The Walking Dead", "Twilight") - whose life is filled with "heart-wrenching and life-changing sacrifices she and her family make as they navigate the highs and lows of success, loss, love and music", according to the show's official description. "We're excited to associate with Campanario and Netflix to provide followers a never-before-seen glimpse at our story and spotlight why Selena will stay a legend for generations to come back".

Also appearing in the series are Julio Macias, Jessi Bossi, Hunter Reese Peña, Carlos Alfredo Jr., Paul Rodriguez, Erica Bowenville and David Fernandes Jr.
