Swift wrote and recorded the album during the lockdown, without hinting to her fans as to what's cooking.

With another 57,000 copies sold in the United States in the tracking week ending October 22 (according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data), the total album sales of "Folklore" jumped past one million (to 1.038 million), making it the first album to sell a million copies in 2020.

Her album Lover was the only one to hit a million sales in 2019.

Folklore is the star's ninth album to reach that milestone - with all eight of her studio albums, along with her Christmas release The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection, each selling more than a million.

Taylor Swift gestures to an audience during one of her performances. According to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, folklore has earned 87,000 equivalent album units in the U.S.in the week ending September 24 (up 97 percent).

A week ago, Swift started once again selling signed CDs of Folklore at $25 a pop on her online store.

On this week's Billboard 200, "THE ALBUM" stayed strong at No. 10, making BLACKPINK the first K-pop girl group to stay in the Top 10 for three consecutive weeks.

On Twitter, she joked with fans that some of them could get a little something extra with their purchase.

"Along with the signed CD, some lucky purchasers of these items may even receive complimentary cat hair stuck inside the pages", she said.

Swift also stated that the package may contain "the aromatic scent of white wine" due to the occasional spillage of her glass during that autograph session.
