With the PS5, Sony is focusing more on the entertainment aspect.

But in the meantime, be sure to check out IGN's weekly PlayStation show, Podcast Beyond, which this week took a look at the PS5 launch lineup and UI reveal, and you can also watch our weekly deep-dive into all next-gen news with Next-Gen Console Watch. Sony confirmed the development in a blog post on Thursday. Further, the most welcome change here is an app for Disney Plus. Another thing to note here is the exclusion of HBO Max from the list of major streaming platforms available for PS5.

In the Media space, you won't need to download apps from the PS Store - it will all be there for you. While this won't make much difference in India, HBO Max subscribers in the USA will be affected. It also mentioned that the console will support streaming apps like Apple TV, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon's Prime Video and more.

"We heard Travis is a huge PlayStation fan, so we started a conversation with him that led to this unique partnership", said Sony Interactive Entertainment worldwide marketing senior vice president Eric Lempel in a PlayStation Blog post.

Apple TV will also be available for the first time on the PlayStation 5, with Twitch integration also available. The Media Remote is created to navigate and control the entertainment experience on PS5.

"Users can power on the PS5 console and quickly navigate media with built-in play/pause, fast forward and fast reverse controls", Rosenberg says of the remote. They're also pushing their new Media Remote, which can power on the console as expected, as well as instantly launch apps with a dedicated button: the four of which are Disney+, Netflix, Spotify and YouTube.
