He suffered the injury on October 1 against the Jets and did not practice last week ahead of Week 5, but he did not miss a game after Denver's game in New England was postponed.

Gordon is being treated for strep throat by the team's medical staff, sources confirmed to ESPN, and did not participate in the team's Saturday morning walk-through.

The Jaguars (1-4) host Detroit (1-3) on Sunday in Florida and plan to play as scheduled. Practice squad defensive lineman Bill Murray was on the list and returned to practice Thursday.

"After Friday's practice, Broncos coach Vic Fangio was quick to say Gordon's illness was "[an] illness totally unrelated with COVID".

In four games this season, Gordon has 65 carries for 281 yards, 11 catches for 45 yards and four total touchdowns. The negatives included one for star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who was ill and sent home Thursday and not allowed to practice Friday.

The Jaguars are the fourth National Football League team to deal with COVID issues in recent days, joining Atlanta, Indianapolis and New England.

Phillip Lindsay, who has rushed for at least 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons, is expected to start against the Patriots Sunday. We have evaluated close contacts, administered necessary point of care testing (no positive COVID-19 results) and implemented additional health and safety measures at UCHealth Training Center per NFL-NFLPA protocols.

"It's good to have him back", McDaniels said.

The Patriots went back to work Saturday, one day after a fifth player on the team tested positive for COVID-19, centre James Ferentz, and one day before their twice-postponed game against the Denver Broncos.

Sunday's game was originally scheduled for October 11, was then moved to October 12 before being moved again to Sunday. Three teams - the Saints, Steelers and Buccaneers - had byes when play resumed a week later, so they all had 20 days between games that year.

Bortles had not appeared in a game for the Broncos after he was signed September 24.

But Denver running backs coach Curtis Modkins will not travel to the game with the Patriots after testing positive for COVID-19, the Broncos announced. Michel is already on injured reserve with a quad injury. Williams was the Broncos' first-round pick in the 2013 draft. "There is also a second test they are awaiting to confirm is a positive".

"Curtis is now at home in self-isolation and experiencing no symptoms".
