Jay-Z launches his Monogram cannabis line

The landing page at monogramcompany.com includes artsy black-and-white images of an indoor cannabis grow, a click-to-play "Sounds From the Grow Room" soundtrack and the outsized slogan "Refining standards, redefining growth". You can visit the company's website here.


The rapper was appointed as the Chief Brand Strategist of the California-based cannabis company Caliva a year ago. "It's a collective attempt to provide you the very best and a humble quest to find what the top really means". Jay-Z has reportedly ventured into the field of marijuana and with no pun intended, the billionaire rapper has come out high off the excitement of his newly announced weed brand Monogram. It's unclear as to when or where MONOGRAM products will be made available, or whether they will be branching over to Canadian markets where recreational marijuana is legal.


Jay-Z's role at Caliva is to advise the company on creative decision making, public relations and strategy, and advocate for social justice issues related to weed legalization. "With all the potential in the cannabis industry, Caliva's expertise and ethos make them the best partners for this endeavor. We want to create something awesome, have fun in the process, do good and bring people along the way". However, per the press release, the brand will also launch "through a best in class e-commerce platform dedicated exclusively to its singular product line". The cannabis industry also seems like a fitting venture for Jay-Z to invest in next, seeing as he has had so much success with his liquor brands D'Ussé cognac and Armand de Brignac champagne, which is more commonly known as Ace of Spades.
