The developer also announced the next-gen enhancement's release date, pushing it out to December 8th, almost a month after Beyond Light's launch on November 10th. The Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will also output Destiny 2 output at 4K - while the less-powerful Xbox Series S will be limited to Full HD.

While the wait may be a little disappointing, it will be worth it when the next-gen consoles get an FOV slider, mimicking the same range the PC version of the game has.

Bungie revealed new details regarding expanded graphical settings for Destiny 2's next-gen launch in a blog post on October 15, 2020. Players who have the current-generation version of Destiny 2 are eligible for the next-generation upgrade at no extra cost. Nowhere in the documentation that we put together was: 'How do we keep other players from playing these games?' We want more people to be able to play games, not fewer people to be able to go play games.

Some players seemed to think that this deal was only in place so that Xbox could get those franchises on GamesPass easily, while others thought it only made sense for Bethesda to only focus on exclusive games from now on. Moreover, Bungie boasts that Xbox Series X, S, and PlayStation 5 versions will run at 60 frames-per-second (FPS) with this next-gen upgrade.

With its November 10th release date, Destiny 2's new Beyond Light expansion is releasing just in time for the launch of Microsoft and Sony's next-generation consoles. Unfortunately Xbox Series S is being left out of this one and will cap at 1080p.
