Earlier this summer, UM once again topped the list of top USA public universities, according to the QS World University Rankings for 2020-21. It finished third among public universities behind the University of California Los Angeles (No. 20) and University of California Berkeley (No. 22), with an overall score of 80 out of 100.

Pell Grant-eligible students now constitute around 24 percent of entering classes at the University.

Brown University, though ranked No. 14 in "National Universities", claimed the top spot in the undergraduate teaching category, while Harvard was deemed the best value school.

Seaver College, the flagship college of Pepperdine's five schools and home to its residential undergraduate program in Malibu, advanced by two spots to number 18 in the "Best Undergraduate Teaching" ranking, which is determined by "an unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching" by faculty and survey responses of administrators-including college presidents, provosts, and admissions deans-at peer regional universities and colleges.

In recognition of how the COVID-19 pandemic has upended higher education, this year's rankings re-introduced test-blind schools.

Those include graduation and retention rates, social mobility, graduation rate performance, undergraduate academic reputation, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, average alumni giving rate and graduate indebtedness.
