In late January this year, she gave birth to her second baby boy.

Award-winning Japanese actor Yuko Takeuchi, has been found dead at her home in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward on Sunday, according to various Japanese news sources.

Yuko is known to be 40-year-old at the time of her death and if her case is proved a suicide, it would follow in light of the surging suicide cases across Japan, amid well-known celebrities.

Japan has seen a succession of apparent suicides by actors and a reality show star in recent months. Takeuchi's official website at talent agency Stardust Promotion has not yet been updated.

More recently, Takeuchi had been on a break from acting due to her pregnancy but had appeared at an event promoting a brand of instant noodles earlier this month.

Her film debut came in 1998 with the thriller "Ring". In 2010, she challenged her first detective role in the drama "Strawberry Night".

Over the next two decades Takeuchi was in high demand for TV and film roles, often playing characters on the comically ditzy side, such as the hospital investigator in the 2009 Nakamura Yoshihiro mystery drama "The Triumphant Return of General Rouge".

She also won best actress in a leading role category three years in a row, between 2004 and 2007, in the Japanese Academy Awards. In other territories, please call your local suicide hotline.
