SEC Establishes Start Dates for Men's and Women's Basketball League Play

Vanderbilt's men's and women's programs will begin their SEC slates in late December.

The SEC says that earlier this month, the NCAA Division I Council approved a November 25 start date for the 2020-21 men's and women's college basketball seasons, when the SEC will begin non-conference play.

League play for Southeastern Conference basketball will officially begin on December 29, the conference announced Friday morning. The SEC-Big 12 Challenge is set to take place in late January. With a tentative "I believe", Calipari also said United Kingdom would play UCLA in the CBS Sports Classic, a game that was originally scheduled for December 19.

Vanderbilt women's basketball will play 16 SEC games with two open dates.

There will be 20 play dates for an 18-game conference schedule in men's basketball, leaving two open dates. Preseason practice is allowed to begin on October 14. and teams can hold up to 30 practices until the start of the regular season.

The Southeastern Conference has announced the new start dates for it's 2020-21 men's and women's basketball conference. Vanderbilt men's and women's basketball appear to be on the court, according to photos posted on Twitter on September 21.
