What's more, Piscatella reveals that the Nintendo Switch was able to best the August dollar sales of the insanely popular Nintendo Wii in 2008.

As reported on twitter by video game industry analyst Mat Piscatella, the Switch, along with several of its games, had tremendous sales numbers in August 2020. Sales statistics for the month of August have come out, revealing that Nintendo had a record-breaking month for sales thanks to their hybrid console. This is the 21 consecutive year that a game bearing the "Madden NFL" name has been the top seller in its release month.

The physical edition of the id Software classic will launch on PS4 and Nintendo Switch in two formats. UFC 4 ranked as the third best-selling game of August on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Market research company the NPD Group has revealed that the Nintendo Switch just recorded the highest August dollar sales for a hardware platform in USA history. The console is August's best-selling hardware platform.

The number of units sold more than doubled when compared to sales from the same month a year ago. On top of this, hardware dollar sales for the month of August this year have "more than doubled" sales when compared to last year. With so many people spending extra time at home, more money is being spent on entertainment, and the Nintendo Switch is an excellent device for families stuck indoors with each other. "It is the 10th best-selling game on Nintendo platforms in U.S. tracked history".
