"We have been working with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit by providing lists of students and staff who may have been in contact with the individual", wrote Toews.

"If you are not contacted by Region of Waterloo Public Health, your child is not considered a high-risk contact", the announcement read in part.

In a letter sent to parents, positive tests from student-athletes in the football and girls soccer programs were cited as reasons for the actions taken by the district.

The school had cleaning protocols in place and work was done to ensure the school was safe to open Monday morning.

This is the third positive case reported by a school in Windsor-Essex.

DeShazo said 32 students from Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School were also quarantined, along with 22 students and one employee from Martin County High School.

As a result of the positive tests, the district announced that it was suspending all athletics and activities for 14 days, with practice to resume October 5.

As is with the previous two cases, it was not disclosed if the patient at Kingsville District High School was a student or staff member. Anyone who feels ill is asked to remain at home and call their healthcare provider for further direction.
