A criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in Chicago alleges that Harris contacted a male minor using a social media app and "repeatedly enticed him to produce sexually explicit videos and photos of himself and send them to Harris", the press release states.

The siblings, aged around 13 and 14 when Harris was 19-years-old at the time of the year-long abuse, are competitive cheerleaders from Texas and reportedly complied with their "mentor" on the cheer scene, court documents state.

"We categorically dispute the claims made against Jerry Harris, which are alleged to have occurred when he was a teenager", a spokesperson for Harris said. The prosecutors requested the court to hold Harris without bond as they believe that he is a danger to the community, according to Chicago Tribune.

If convicted on the federal child pornography charge, Mr Harris faces up to 30 years in prison.

"We are grateful that the U.S. Attorney and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have taken swift action to protect children by investigating, arresting and charging Jerry Harris", Attorney Sarah Klein, who represents the accusers' family, said in a statement to USA Today.

Harris, 21, was arrested and charged by the FBI on Thursday following an investigation into allegations he solicited photos and sex from minors.

Mr Harris is accused of soliciting images from the minor from December 2018 to March 2020.

Harris worked for Varsity at a cheer camp a year ago.

The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of IL confirmed in a press release that Harris, 21, was arrested for allegedly enticing an underage boy to produce sexually explicit photos and videos of himself.

USA Today first reported on the sexual-misconduct allegations on Monday, adding that the FBI was investigating Harris and conducting a search of his Naperville, Illinois residence. At the time, a representative for the Federal Bureau of Investigation would only confirm that the organization was conducting "court-authorized law enforcement activity in the area", and offered no additional comment. Biden's team has organized Instagram Live sessions with influencers including TV personality Keke Palmer and Jerry Harris from the Netflix series Cheer.
