The tournament will be played in the Harrah's Cherokee Center, which has a capacity of 7,674.

The 2020 Maui Invitational is moving from the beach to the mountains.

For the first time ever, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and schedule changes announced by the NCAA, the Maui Jim Maui Invitational is planning to relocate to Asheville, North Carolina this year.

Teams scheduled to take part are North Carolina, Alabama, Davidson, Indiana, Providence, Stanford, Texas and UNLV. The event run run from November 11-Dec. 2.

Organizers announced Friday that Asheville, N.C., will host the tournament this fall. ESPN reported that the tournament - which will include two North Carolina schools, UNC and Davidson - will take place November 30 to December 2.

Duke and Gonzaga play at the Maui Invitational in 2018. The Maui Invitational was originally slated to take place from November 22-24. The NCAA announced Wednesday that the college basketball season will begin November 25.

The decision to relocate the Maui Invitational will make it significantly closer for almost every team in the field, too.

"We're a tourism-based community, we fit that vibe of what an early-season tournament would look like", Harrah's Cherokee Center general manager Chris Corl said this month, via ESPN.
