Liverpool complete signing of Jota from Wolves

Given his energetic pressing style, Jota appears to be a good fit within Liverpool's attacking line-up, although it is expected that he will initially have to settle for a back-up role with the Reds deadly triumvirate of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane seemingly unmovable.

"It is one of the best teams in the world - the best at the moment because they are world champions. Rotation is absolutely necessary because it just doesn't work otherwise".

"He's a player who gives us so many options to use him", said the Reds boss, whose side face an early test of their champion credentials with a trip to Chelsea on Sunday.

"He played against Wolves in the FA Cup game in 2019 when he was only 16 years old, and impressed us very much".

However, the deal to sign 23-year-old Jota has been somewhat offset by the news that Wolves have agreed to pay £13.5m for young Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever, the teenager yet to have made an appearance for Jurgen Klopp's side in the Premier League. "He has the speed, he can combine, can defend, can press".

Klopp continued: "He knows it's a step for him, he knows that". The space for improvement is not what I like most, but it's there.

"But I think it's a good number and hopefully I can do good things with it".

The other difficulty facing Liverpool is that they may find selling clubs want that extra bit of money for their player just because they are the Reds and the current Premier League champions. "I just want to get started", Jota told the club's official website.

"I think there was no doubt about Liverpool being the best team in the league last season by some distance".

"The intensity they put into the game... they were just unbelievable". They were all over the place.

The report claims that Liverpool would want to recoup as close to the £25 million figure they spent on the player as possible, giving Wolves a potential price-tag if they want to do a deal.
