In Rajya Sabha, Jaya Bachchan spoke about how the entertainment industry is being vilified to divert the attention of the people in times of depressing financial situation.

"My name is Jaya Bachchan", she said taking everyone by surprise, and Naidu too said that she being a well-known personality need not introduce herself.

"Sir thanks a lot". Questioning her statement, Kangana had tweeted, "Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage, would you say the same thing if Abhieshek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day?"

"The entertainment industry in our country provides direct employment every day to five lakh people and indirect employment to five million people".

Jaya Bachchan hit out by saying, "People in the entertainment industry are being flogged by social media. People who made their names in the industry have called it a 'gutter.' I completely disagree (sic)".

"I was really embarrassed and ashamed that yesterday one of our members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the industry, spoke against the film industry".

Reacting to Bachchan's comments today, Kishan said, "Not everyone in the industry consumes drugs but those who do are part of a plan to finish the world's largest film industry. They are still being harassed", the MP said, adding that there are many promises made to the industry but never kept.

Bachchan said the government should come forward and support the entertainment industry. If there is a national calamity, they give their money and everything. "Just because of a few people, you can not tarnish the whole industry".

The veteran actor, who is married to Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, said the entertainment industry brings global name and recognition to the country.

She implied that the actor was drilling holes in the very plate he eats from after Kishan said that drug addiction persisted in the film industry in the parliament yesterday. "Jis thaali me khaate hain usi me chched karte hain", she said.

Kangana Ranaut and several other actors have opened up over the use of drugs in Bollywood. This time, she has come to the defence of Bollywood amid the allegations of mass substance abuse made by actor Kangana Ranaut and BJP MP Ravi Kishan.
