While it's unclear how much of the new season has been filmed, Leslie has shared the first official image of Ryan as Batwoman. "Look out, Gotham, I'm suited up and ready to go." the actress wrote. Leslie promises that her Ryan Wilder, a new character taking up the cape and cowl, is going to "put her own spin" on the Batsuit, which we've yet to see.

Earlier this year it was revealed that Ruby Rose is no longer Batwoman.

It appears as though Leslie's character Ryan Wilder will be wearing the same Batsuit as Ruby Rose's Kate Kane (which itself is a modified version of the bulletproof suit originally worn by Bruce Wayne).

The photo is from her initial screen test, so this was very likely taken the first time she ever tried on the wig, cowl and complete suit, which seems to be identical to the one Ruby Rose (Kane Kane) wore in season one. For now, we're just glad to see that Batwoman is back in action but we're hoping for more updates soon.

'I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community, ' Leslie said in a statement in July.

The brand new hero spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her ache with unsafe habits. She's the most unsafe type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. Ryan is also an out lesbian, raw, passionate and fallible, defying the all-American hero stereotype.

Batwoman is set to return to The CW for its second season in January as part of the network's delayed 2020-2021 schedule.
