"Our partnership with Microsoft enables us to now go a step further enriching our value proposition within the Azure ecosystem, allowing us to provide our customers with products and services to advance their cloud strategies for even better, more resilient business outcomes". Azure Orbital will allow customers to quickly analyze data captured from space. "Azure's networking managed services developed for our mutual customers will reinforce their autonomy and agility from the edge to the cloud".

Microsoft's Azure Orbital competes with Amazon Web Services (AWS) which recently launched a dedicated business unit called AWS Aerospace and Satellite Solutions. It will enable them to put down the essential building blocks for network transformation that are essential to harvest the benefits of cloud. The company explained that it is working with Microsoft to migrate its on-premise infrastructure to Azure and build an in-house cloud centre of excellence to implement cloud-first initiatives.

AT&T and Microsoft are teaming up to enable enterprises to connect equipment to the cloud with secure network connectivity across the globe, according to a news release from Microsoft on Tuesday. "In anticipation of O3b mPOWER, SES's next-generation MEO communications system, SES and Microsoft will seamlessly co-locate several telemetry, tracking and command (TT&C) systems and data ground stations with Microsoft's Azure edge sites". This includes network transformation, connectivity, monitoring and performance managed services and security for Azure traffic.

AT&T and Microsoft past year announced a multiyear partnership, making Microsoft AT&T's preferred cloud provider for non-network applications.

Another key area of the deal covers the joint development of new cloud-based video services powered by Microsoft Azure.

SES has a bold vision to deliver fantastic experiences everywhere on earth by distributing the highest quality video content and providing seamless connectivity around the world. The company's guardian device can be easily installed, effectively furnishing an end-to-end solution for connecting equipment and machines to the cloud, circumventing the requirement for public Internet.
