First, Sony's Eric Lempel, the Senior Vice President of PlayStation Worldwide Market, claimed, "It's not gonna happen with a minute's notice". The interview noted the surprising reveal of the PlayStation Plus Collection during the PS5 conference, which will bring a library of the PS4's best games to the console, available to PlayStation Plus subscribers for free. In the latter's case, Xbox put all of its games onto the subscription service on the day they are released. Furthermore, backward compatible games titles will look and play better on newer consoles. Though not available to purchase at StockX just yet, we'd advise keeping an eye on that buy button if you want to ensure you secure the PS5. "For others in a different situation, it might well make sense, but for us, it doesn't".

Beni Sales, an independent video game analyst, has claimed that the lion's share of PS5s being moved this holiday season will be that of the regular, disc-based version of Sony's new home console. Some though were disappointed with the digital-only PlayStation 5 being priced at $100 cheaper at $399 since its counterpart, the Xbox Series S, is going to sell at $299. "In the midst of that, the [PlayStation 4] already has 100 million players; we thought they ought to want to play PS4 titles on the PS5 as well indeed, so we included compatibility with the PS4. We think that's really exciting and we hope that people were surprised and delighted by that", he said at the showcase event.
