The company claims the Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition to be the world's first mass-produced transparent TV. So, what does transparent mean in the world of television?

How can a TV be transparent? It will seem like "the virtual and the real" are merging and everyone's going to wave their hands behind this TV only to be amazed that it's visible on the front. Announced during the company's 10-year anniversary launch event, the breathtaking device has quite a mouthful of a marketing name - the Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition.

Xiaomi has launched the Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition at a price of RMB 49,999 (roughly over 5 lakh), and it will be available in China from August 16. Samsung is given a lot of credit to make TVs look like a piece of art, well, Xiaomi just raised the bar is all we can say. The Mi TV LUX has a transparent OLED or TOLED panel that makes use of transparent components that don't require any backlighting. Some are already offering up to 8K resolution TVs but others are trying to push out innovative solutions like a rollable or transparent display. It is the world's first mass producer of transparent OLED TVs, as well as China's number one OLED Basic Module (OBM) manufacturer.

Talking about the specifications, you have a huge 55-inch transparent OLED panel with 93% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, 150000:1 static contrast ratio, and 10-bit HDR support. It also offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colour depth, and a 1ms response time. The brand also promises the set will be equipped with an AI Master Smart Engine and support Dolby Atmos surround sound technology. The base stand is covered with a millimeter-grade finish that resembles compact discs blending perfectly into any surroundings. The TV is flawless not only for homes, but also for galleries, museums, shopping malls, and theaters.

For connectivity, the Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition comes with dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, three HDMI ports, two USB ports, an AV port, and an Ethernet port. The user interface - including the Home page, Settings, My App - is specifically designed to better demonstrate the visual features and strength of the transparent screen, creating a unique user experience. Mi TVs have been ranked at the top for shipments for six consecutive quarters from Q1 2019 to Q2 2020*.
