Temperatures are expected to be in the mid to upper 60s, with winds up to 20 miles per hour this week in San Francisco. Every day is a lot more comfortable.

"It's always 20 degrees cooler here than it is down there in Palo Alto".

Prior to its postponement on March 17, the PGA Championship was originally scheduled for play May 14-17. I think anybody would.

"I take my PlayStation everywhere I go with me and it's proving useful given how much extra time we're spending in hotel rooms", Herbert told AAP.

"He's got a little more length on there, and that's just so he can practice a little bit more without back pain". So I knew it was eventually going to be there. "That's just the way it is".

Woods barely made the cut at the Memorial Tournament and finished in a tie for 40th. The Memorial was his first start in five months since ending 68th at The Genesis Invitational in February.

Woods says his Masters hangover that included a trip to the White House was to blame for a poor showing at last year's US PGA Championship.

"But generally by the time you make the back nine, there's thousands of people out there on the golf course waiting for the leaders to tee off". He was also part of the victorious US Presidents Cup team in 2009 at TPC Harding.

Woods won the 2005 WGC-American Express Championship here, while McIlroy claimed the 2015 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

The big hitters will have the advantage of distance, but Woods can outdo them with his iron play but needs to find the fairways.

"It's a par 70; it's not as long numbers-wise, but the ball never goes very far here".

Woods was hot at the end of 2019 and through January, with a win and three top 10 finishes in three tournaments, but has become less of a threat.

Woods missed the last two tournaments. And then there is a discussion on where else he will play in the remainder of 2020.

Tiger Tales: Tiger Woods has played only 21 rounds on the PGA Tour since competing in his last major a year ago at Royal Portrush.

The 2020 British Open has been canceled, while the 2020 Masters Tournament will be November 12-15 in Augusta, Ga. But it is unclear whether he will play any, though having a start before the Masters is likely.

McIlroy before the pandemic was in brilliant form.

Starting with the Irish contingent, Rory McIlroy's wait for another major now stretches to six years. The famously hard NY public course was well known to everyone, from the golfers in the field to the local hackers in attendance who were quite certain they knew the course better than the players themselves. But so are several others such as Spaniard Jon Rahm, whom Thomas unseated for the No 1 ranking. All of them are in the field this week.

Justin Thomas, who saw off Koepka in Memphis four days ago to win the tournament, has been speaking this week about how he feels he's underachieved given he has just one major to his name.

Brooks Koepka of the United States poses with the Wanamaker Trophy after winning the 100th PGA Championship golf tournament at Bellerive Country Club in St Louis, Missouri in 2018, left, and Koepka with the trophy at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York in 2019.
