Troy free on Epic Games Store today

While the launch of A Total War Saga: Troy probably won't completely shut down the Epic Games Store, like the mid-May free release of Grand Theft Auto V did, I'd recommend activating your copy sooner than later (just in case). It's afforded the opportunity to experiment with Total War a bit, while Epic ensures the game is profitable (covering development costs is a standard part of the Epic exclusivity agreement) and gets Troy in front of a very large audience.

Players will also be able to call mythic units to their aid in the heat of battle. You don't have to actually download and install the game immediately; simply "buy" it much as you would any of the Epic Games Store's other free titles. You'll need an Epic Games Store account, of course, so make sure that box is ticked.

Fans of strategy and Greek myth alike, rejoice! All one needs to do is sign-up for Total War Access and link their Epic Games account and they will get the DLC when the time comes. In an act that shocks the world, audacious Paris, prince of Troy, elopes with the attractive queen of Sparta.

If you want to pick up Total War: Troy, you can go here to redeem your free copy of the game. As they sail away, King Menelaus curses her name.

Inspired by The Iliad - Homer's sweeping tale of romance and bloodshed - A Total War Saga: TROY focuses on the historical flashpoint of the Trojan War, bringing the conflict to life as never before. This event started at 9am EST today and runs for 24 hours, so the clock is ticking.
