Cheeseman - who lost the British Superwelterweight title fight against Scott Fitzgerald past year - continued on the front foot during the early rounds as Eggington took a number of body shots, before the Stourbridge boxer then went on the offensive landing a strong left hook. But where has he got it from that I have to turn it into a dog-fight?

Northern Irishman James Tennyson showed he is still a unsafe puncher after a move to lightweight after halting Welshman Gavin Gwynne (12-1, 2 KOs) in the sixth round for the vacant British lightweight title in the show's chief support.

Speaking after his sixth-round stoppage, Tennyson said on Sky Sports: "It means everything".

"He is so exciting".

"You're going to hear the fighters talking to each other, the referees instructions and you're going to hear the dialogue between the corner teams when it gets really tough". The third fight of the night will be a heavyweight clash between Simon Vallily and Fabio Wardley.

"Everyone will tell you, they want to box regularly, so I can't moan, everything has been great".

In contrast, Wardley (9-0, 8 KOs), 25, from Ipswich, did not have any amateur experience and turned professional after four white-collar bouts.

Wardley and Vallily's rivalry heated up the press conference on Thursday.

Vallily (17-3-1, 7 KOs), 34, from Middlesbrough, won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games during a distinguished amateur career. "I'm massively humbled and grateful".

"I don't think he'll come out and try and put it on me, it'll be meat and drink all night for me - I'd take that in a heartbeat. Round three, that was it, it was over".

Smith Rocked Bennett several times during the fight.

Smith, 140.8 of Sheffield is 609 with five knockouts.

Sam Eggington: "I'm over the moon to be headlining the first one".

Featherweight Jordan Gill secured a points win over Reece Bellotti, who suffered a cut over his right eye during the sixth round. In round eight, Gill started to swell under his left eye.

Gill, who had suffered after a shock defeat to Mario Enrique Tinoco during May previous year, claimed a unanimous decision, with scores of 97-93, 97-93 and 96-95.

"I have come through my problems, I felt I deserved some luck over the a year ago, and I have come through it", Cheeseman said.

"When they sent me the list of opponents, the reason I picked Ted is because he's done something of note, he's won a British title". I boxed to orders, controlling the fight with my left hand.

Cheeseman rammed in another right hand in the fifth, but Eggington was standing firm, replying with hooks of his own in the sixth. "I busted my hand mid-rounds, but no excuses, a great fight, and I'm pleased to come away with the win".
