A highly anticipated sequel, Spelunky 2 is coming out in September on PS4.

Many years ago, a little game called Spelunky graced the Xbox 360. It was actually a remake of a more visually-primitive "roguelike" that was released on PC back in 2008.

During Sony's State of Play, we got a brand new trailer for Spelunky 2. The developers of the game are Mossmouth, Blitworks, and LLC. After a long delay, it's arriving sometime in 2020, and it will have an online multiplayer element, which the first game severely lacked. Here is the tweet you can see the further details that it will be released for PS soon after the release.

It's been a while since we heard anything about Spelunky 2, but the procedurally generated action platformer had a surprise showing during the PlayStation State of Play. It will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PC on September 15.

It's been confirmed that Spelunky 2 will not only have local co-op, it'll also support online multiplayer as well which is awesome. After Steam, we'll look into other platforms. "We are excited for as many people to play as possible", Yu said on Twitter. There will also be some kind of subterranean town where the characters you find and save can hang out.

Will you be heading to the Moon with Spelunky 2 on PS4 next month? He further teased that the world will be having a mysterious "second layer" which can be accessed through some hidden gates.
