But as if right now, this new series, which has been created by Glee as well as the American Horror Story, actually serves the task of being a prequel to the Academy Award victor called One Flew Over Cuckoo's Nest and will tell the origins of the Nurse Ratched. She was originally played by Louise Fletcher, but now she's played by Paulson, and she's only a little bit less terrifying. But he then finds it's run by Nurse Mildred Ratched, who uses her position of power there to intimidate all the residents. The trailer is great, showing off a dryly witty, ultra dark tale, with Paulson firing on all cylinders as the lead.

It's a prequel to Academy Award-winning One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, following the beginnings of the controlling Nurse Ratched.

The series, created by Evan Romansky and executive produced by Murphy, looks as stylish and macabre as Murphy's best works, with Paulson a towering menace as a young Nurse Ratched in 1946 Northern California, starting her job at a psychiatric hospital conducting disturbing experiments.

According to Netflix, Nurse Ratched's stylish exterior "belies a growing darkness that has always been smouldering within, revealing that true monsters are made, not born".

Speaking to Vanity Fair about Nurse Ratched's character, Sarah said: "I identified very deeply with her loneliness". She also said she believes Mildred is in "pursuit of survival and of finding some sense of home".

Ratched was created by American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy.

"Ratched" will premiere on September 18.

Along with Paulson, the present stars Cynthia Nixon, Judy Davis, Sharon Stone, Jon Jon Briones, Finn Wittrock, Charlie Carver, Alice Englert, Amanda Plummer, Corey Stoll, Sophie Okonedo, Brandon Flynn and Vincent D'Onofrio.

All eight episodes of the series will drop on Netflix on Friday 18th September.

We fully expect "No one has ever put their name on a peach" to become the go-to warning not to thieve co-workers' food from communal fridges.
