New York Liberty star rookie Sabrina Ionescu needed help off the court after suffering an ankle injury on Friday against the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA bubble. "She will come back stronger", said Tsai on Twitter. A Grade 3 sprain is the most severe and usually requires months to heal fully as it's a full tear of the ankle ligament. For now Ionescu will work to decrease swelling and increased range of motion over the next few days.

The injury happened during the second quarter when Ionescu appeared to roll her left ankle.

In her second career WNBA game, Ionescu had 33 points, hitting six of 10 three-point shots, to go with seven rebounds and seven assists in a loss to the Dallas Wings on Wednesday.

NY is short-handed at guard already with Kia Nurse sidelined with a sprained left ankle she suffered in the team's opener.

"Get healthy as soon as possible!" Asia Durr, the No. 2 pick previous year, is out for the season on a medical exemption after contracting the coronavirus.

New York Liberty forward Sabrina Ionescu (20) pushes the ball up the court during the first half of a WNBA basketball game against the Seattle Storm, Saturday, July 25, 2020, in Ellenton, Fla. "There's not a lot of ready-to-go options hanging around".

She was sent to a hospital in the Bradenton, Florida, area. She had 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting in 12 minutes.

The Liberty (0-3) next play Phoenix (1-2) on Sunday (1 p.m. ET, ESPN).
