Kanye West Files For Ballot Status In Wisconsin; Challenges Possible

Rapper Kanye West has filed paperwork with the Wisconsin Elections Commission in hopes of making it onto the presidential ballot in the swing state. West's campaign filed signatures in Wisconsin on Tuesday, and has filed paper work to appear on the ballot in Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Wednesday at 4 p.m.is Ohio's deadline for independent candidates to submit petitions with valid signatures for the presidential contest.

At the same time, West missed the deadlines in Kansas, New York, Nebraska, and Maryland, with these states comprising a combined 50 electoral votes in November.

The past few days have seen several victories and defeats for Kanye West's erratic presidential campaign.


The New Jersey petition reportedly showed a number of signatures looked almost identical, including lower-case I's dotted with a small circle. By the time West announced his intent to run for president, the deadline to appear on the ballot had already passed in many states, and more deadlines are fast approaching, as The Washington Post's Dave Weigel helpfully illustrates.

Reportedly, the four operatives include Mark Jacoby, a Republican who was arrested for voter fraud in 2008 after illicit dealings in a California campaign, and a current executive...

Wilton's wife, Wendy, is a Trump appointee at the United States Department of Agriculture.

On Tuesday, Vice reported that an experienced GOP operative with ties to President Trump's campaign, Lane Ruhland, dropped off the signatures that would qualify West for his presidential bid in Wisconsin.


The president last month described West's campaign as "very interesting".

Election lawyer Scott Salmon had filed the challenge to West's filing last week, accusing the rapper's campaign of forging signatures.

While his campaign appears to be anything other than viable, it remains unclear why ballots are still being collected on West's behalf.
