Historically, Google hasn't been very successful at keeping a lid on its Pixel phone plans - past year it even leaked its Pixel 4 months in advance deliberately such is its inability to keep a lid on things.

The final Android 11 Beta update is here as Beta 3 and you can run it right now on your Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, or Pixel 4. Unveiled in October a year ago, the Pixel 4 pair is now out of stock on the Google Store in the USA, shortly after the company announced that its successor - the Pixel 5 - will debut in the fall season. For people who are still interested in buying Pixel 4|4XL, the product is available from some partners while supplies last. The phones will doubtless still be avilable through other retailers for a little while, but once those are gone, the phones are off the market. The date is likely to be accurate, though, as Google typically launches new phones in October.

The now deceased phone featured Google's Project Solei, a chip that powers its unique radar abilities and its hand-gesture features.

This final beta is also a release candidate build and includes the official API 30 SDK and build tools for Android Studio. The Pixel 4A is available for preorder now, and Google said the 5G model and Pixel 5 will be available this fall.

The low price helped spur iPhone sales at a time of soaring unemployment, as the economy plunged into a deep recession.
