Ennis, Larsson not ruled out for Oilers in Game 4 against Blackhawks

"It's obviously disappointing, no question", Draisaitl said.

"We are committed to reinvesting the proceeds from the raffle back into our community through programs that support those who have been most hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic", the statement said.

The Oilers had to play without Adam Larsson, their first-pairing shutdown defenceman.

At noon Wednesday, eight-and-a-half hours before puck-drop, the total had climbed past $2.5-million.

The Blackhawks were six point out of a playoff spot with 12 games left to play when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the National Hockey League to pause.

The Oilers went down another player late in the second period when Tyler Ennis got checked into the boards by Hawk centre Kirby Dach behind the Oilers net, involving knee-on-knee contact that left Ennis writhing on the ice. He had to be helped off, not putting any weight on his right leg.

But the Blackhawks dug in, turned back the clock, channeled some late-game heroics against an Oilers team that lost just once in regulation (29-1-2) during the regular season when leading after two periods and have a chance to close out a postseason series on Friday for the first time since the 2015 Stanley Cup Final.

The Oilers struggled to get a rhythm going, taking seven penalties in the first two periods but managed to allow only one goal with the man advantage.

He also had 33 points (14 goals, 19 assists) in 61 games with the Senators this season. They went 1-for-6 on the power play, with their only goal coming during a 5-on-3 advantage.

Larsson, who had five hits and three blocked shots in 21:18 of ice time in a 6-3 Oilers win in Game 2 on Monday, was unfit to play in Game 3.

Draisaitl's second goal started with a turnover by the Hawks in their end, and he poked in a rebound of Matt Benning's shot.

Connor McDavid (97) and Ethan Bear (74) celebrate a goal during first period NHL Stanley Cup qualifying round action against the Chicago Blackhawks, in Edmonton, on August 3, 2020. And while there were no fans in attendance to blow the roof off Rogers Place, the Blackhawks certainly felt comfort knowing a part of Chicago was with them in Edmonton.

NOTES: In Larsson's absence, Darnell Nurse and Bear, normally the second paring skated as the top duo. Caleb Jones replaced Larsson in the lineup for Game 3.

Andreas Athanasiou joined the Draisaitl line in his place. The Blackhawks wore their red jerseys as the "home team" and, in another weird twist in the Year of COVID, they dressed under the big orange Oilers logo set into the ceiling in the usual home dressing room.

They went from being a win away from reaching the 16-team portion of the playoffs to being on the brink of elimination.

The 12 Western Conference teams are playing all the games at Rogers Place, while the Eastern Conference teams are doing the same in Toronto.
