Cameron Diaz retired from Hollywood a few years ago, and now, she's revealing the real reason she made the jump.

"I got a peace in my soul, because I finally was taking care of myself", Diaz told Gwyneth Paltrow, on the fellow actress's health podcast.

The Bad Teacher star is clearly enjoying motherhood, telling pal and Who What Wear CEO Katherine Power in an Instagram Live interview the joy she's discovering as a parent. Plus, according to Diaz, your life isn't your own when you're a movie star. After welcoming her first child Raddix with husband Benji Madden, Diaz spoke to Gwyneth Paltrow and revealed that she was a driving force in helping her become a mom.

Cameron said with a laugh: 'You were so, you know, I would say, encouraging and also...' prompting Gwyneth to finish: '.a pain in the a**'.

"A peace", she said. Everybody's doing things for you, and you're catered around, and I never felt really, truly comfortable with that.

"I know a lot of people won't understand it - I know you understand it - but it was so intense to work at that level and be that public and put yourself out there", Diaz added.

Cameron didn't stop there with her praise of Gwyneth, 47, adding: "You were just on me all the time". At the time, she admitted she felt it was "OK for me to take time for myself now to reorganize and choose how I want to come [back] into the world". And I realized I handed off parts of my life to all these other people. "That wasn't my comfort zone, to be taken care of".

"I just decided that I wanted different things out of my life", Cameron declared at the 29:00 minute mark. She was also blunt about the fact that the life of an actor can be extremely stressful and removed from reality, saying, "Actors are infantilized".

"We got married pretty much immediately", she stated. However, after her 40th birthday hit, she was able to find her path and finally make herself "self-sufficient".

The ex-Holywood actress has given her verdict on what it was like living under the spotlight all those years.

She continued, "Everybody's out there in quarantine right now, which is really, really hard and discouraging, but it looks like we're getting the swing of it at least". And in 2019, she told InStyle, "I don't miss performing".
