While Jennifer Aniston scored a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work on "The Morning Show", Brad Pitt scored Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Dr. Anthony Fauci on "Saturday Night Live".

The SNL performance, CNN notes, came after Fauci was asked in an interview who should play him on the show, and he responded, "Brad Pitt, of course".

"First, I'd like to thank all the older women in America who have sent me supportive, inspiring, and sometimes graphic e-mails", he said, during his now award-nominated turn.

Pitt previously received an Emmy in the category, for his appearance in hit sitcom Friends.

In 2005, Pitt and Aniston split and released a joint statement, saying, "For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media". "Now, there is a rumor that the president is going to fire me", Pitt joked in full Fauci costume. "Relative to the entire history of Earth?"

He's nominated within the class for Finest Visitor Actor in a Comedy Collection, together with Luke Kirby (The Marvelous Mrs Maisel), the late Fred Willard (Trendy Household), Dev Patel (Trendy Love), Adam Driver (SNL) and Eddie Murphy (SNL).

Pitt's surprise appearance on the show, which was not announced in advance of the episode, saw him don a wig to impersonate Fauci in a fake public service announcement. "I necessarily mean, I'm a great fan of Brad Pitt, and that is the cause why when people today check with me who'd I like to perform me I mention Brad Pitt since he is one particular of my favourite actors".

"I think he did great", he said.

I happen to fully agree and if our nation's leadership had even half the smarts, wit, empathy, and unending patience of Dr. Fauci, we'd be in a much better place right now.
