Borussia Dortmund expect to keep Manchester United target Jadon Sancho this summer, according to the German club's sporting director Michael Zorc.

United would likely have to part with a massive transfer fee to secure the 20-year-old England global, with Goal reporting that the German side want €120 million (£108m/$142m) for Sancho.

The town of Rhine is just over an hour from Dortmund, so it is to be expected that Sancho's future is resolved in brief.

Telegraph Sport understands that the Covid-19 crisis has cost United more than £150m in lost income and expenditure and the club feel Dortmund's €120m valuation of Sancho is completely unrealistic in the current climate.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping that the deal is sorted sooner rather than later and he can then get on with the rest of recruitment ahead of next season.

The German outlet also insists that Dortmund are continuing to send out the message that if the August 10th deadline is missed, Sancho will go to the Swiss training camp and still play for them next season.

"So far, there has been no contact between Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United in terms of Sancho, either indirectly or through alleged intermediaries", Dortmund managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke told SZ.

At that point the biggest link between the two men would have been that they grew up in the same area, and Sancho was in fact a Manchester City academy player at the time, but they will soon share an affinity to United.

"There has never been an offer for Jadon, but we have pre-emptively given the minimum of what should be paid", Watzke added.

Sancho has regularly been linked with a move to Manchester United over the last few months, and he scored 17 goals and made 17 assists in 32 Bundesliga games last season.
