Amit Shah tests coronavirus positive, admitted to hospital

Union home minister Amit Shah has tested positive for coronavirus, the minister tweeted on Sunday afternoon.

Disclosing it on Twitter, Shah said that he got himself tested after "initial signs" of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit also tested positive for coronavirus and is admitted to Kauvery hospital in Chennai.

Shah, a close aide to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, heads a ministry that has been at the forefront of managing the epidemic.

According to the protocol of contact tracing, those who came in contact with him recently, particularly the last 10 days, will be asked to undergo Covid-19 tests. He is being admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Shah tweeted about his infection.

The 55-year-old minister said he was fine.

Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi said, "as a ccorona recoveree myself, he may also have a non symptomatic and hence a mild case". AAP leader and Delhi CM also prayed for the speedy recovery of Amit Shah.

BJP's Gujarat unit president C R Patil wished a speedy recovery to the home minister. "My prayers are with him and his family". "Wishing him a speedy recovery and praying for a long life".
