The New Animal Crossing New Horizons Seasonal Item Is Bamboo Grass

While you will need to donate at least one scallop to Blathers eventually, you get free reign after that. The first of these is diving, a returning mechanic from past games which allows players to dive into the ocean and hunt for sea creatures.

Now that the update is finally here, you might be trying to figure out exactly how to swim.

To go swimming in the ocean, you'll need to grab a wetsuit for 3,000 bells from Nook's Cranny - they're sold from the cabinet containing saplings, flimsy tools, and starter DIY recipes.

You need to visit the shop while it's open and speak to Timmy or Tommy to view their inventory. Scroll down the list to find it, and it should have a fancy Nook Inc. theme to it.

As usual, you can find the bamboo grass by heading into the Nook Shopping Catalog. After that, head to your beach (the sand or any of the many rocky areas on it) and press "A" to jump into the sea. Do not forget to equip your regular clothes, unless you like the wetsuit look. Like fish, they show up as shadows in the water, although sea creatures are round. They'll emit bubbles to the surface of the water, which can help you spot them when they're farther out. Different sea creatures will show up depending on certain circumstances, such as time and season. For example, sea weed will be easy to grab since it stays in one place, but octopi and scallops will move and require you to catch up to them.

Players can now encounter new visiting characters somewhere on the island. You won't have to do too much to go after it to obtain it.

Once you get a scallop, it's possible that Pascal will appear and swim towards you for a chit-chat. You can bring Tanabata home by picking up some Animal Crossing bamboo grass by July 31, 2020. He'll ask you for yours and give you a new DIY recipe from the gorgeous "mermaid" set. We'll have more info on Pascal and the mermaid goodies he gives out soon - keep your eyes peeled for another guide! You'll know you have the latest version if Isabelle's morning announcements include a description of the new diving activity. Today's update added diving and more than three dozen sea creatures to collect.
