Following over a year of testing in select countries, Spotify is debuting a new subscription plan called Premium Duo, which costs $12.99 a month and allows two people who live under the same roof to share the one plan while owning separate Spotify accounts. And if you have tried Spotify Premium previously, you can easily switch to Duo on under the "Account" section. It also includes Duo Mix, described as "a playlist for two, regularly updated with music you both enjoy". Couples, Spotify will really appreciate if both of you got your own paid accounts instead of listening to the streaming service from one account.

"With two individual Premium accounts, you can both listen independently, uninterrupted and get all your personalised playlists and features tailored just for you". "We are thrilled to bring this unique Spotify Premium plan to even more markets around the world".

Spotify Premium Duo is now available in 55 global markets, including South Africa.

Spotify is said to roll out its new real-time lyrics feature in 26 countries, according to TechCrunch.

If you live with someone who uses Spotify Premium, you could save money on your own subscription by signing up to Spotify Premium Duo, the latest subscription tier from the music streaming service.

Spotify says that upgrading to Premium Duo won't get rid of your existing Premium account, so you'll still have access to your saved music, podcasts, playlists, and song recommendations.
