One of the most prolific choreographers of the Hindi film industry, Khan, fondly called Masterji in Bollywood, had called the shots in over 2000 songs spanning over three and a half decades. She was admitted to the city's Guru Nanak hospital on June 20, 2020, after complaining of breathing issues.

"She passed away due to cardiac arrest at around 1:52am at the hospital".

In the video, Madhuri Dixit and Saroj Khan are reminiscing their collaboration on the iconic dance number "Ek Do Teen" from the film Tezaab.

She was present in the Bollywood scene, though not dominantly, through the 70s and 80s, but became a household name after the legendary Hawa Hawai featuring Sridevi put her on the Bollywood map like a landmark. They married when he was past 40 and she was only 13. "But then, suddenly two to three days ago, she suddenly had a huge spike in her diabetes, which went up to 600-650 on the scale", Sukaina said. She never looked back and choreographed on some of the Bollywood's most popular film songs.

The 1999 Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, featured one of Khan's most popular dances."Nimbooda" highlighted her enormous talent, and it also brought former Miss World, Aishwariya Rai's dance skills to the forefront. "The world has lost an amazingly talented person", Dixit tweeted.

"When she danced it was like watching a whole book!"

The choreographer, who was born as Nirmala and later converted to Islam, learnt dance while working under film choreographer B Sohanlal. Her unfortunate demise has left the industry in a state of shock and everyone has been mourning the loss of the National Award winning choreographer. He wrote, "She was a sprightly young enthusiastic dance assistant to one of the major dance directors of the time. of the time when I was just beginning. of the film "Bandhe Haath" with the heart throb of millions Mumtaz. with the director OP Ralhan". Amitabh Bachchan shared a lengthy note on social media recalling all the memories he shared with her, and several anecdotes. "'Master ji, will we be able to do it?' They have that sentence".

But it was her work with Madhuri Dixit that made her famous.

For the past few years, she was seen judging dance shows on televisions.
