For further details on this host of indie gems, including in-depth descriptions from the developers themselves, head over to the PlayStation blog. This new initiative will be led by longtime PlayStation employee and the beloved Shuhei Yoshida.

Aptly named the PlayStation Indies Initiative, the program aims to build the PlayStation brand into "best place to develop, find, and play great indie games".

"The indie community is increasingly important for the future of the gaming industry, as AAA game development has grown so financially demanding that big companies are finding it harder to take risks to invest in new concepts that may or may not work", Yoshida wrote in the blog. The post also introduced trailers from a wide range of new indie titles coming to both PS4 and PS5 later this year.

To that end, PlayStation has pledged to include an additional indie title added to its PS Now game streaming service every month moving forward, starting with Hello Neighbor in July.

With recent VR support on Dreams and the free fair usage policy of Unreal Engine, it is most likely the best time to be an indie game developer. Also if Sony becomes the first to announce pre-orders for the PS5, this will be game-changing move as millions of fans are dying to get their hands on the Sony's next-gen console.
